OW Essentials No.04 - Moody Teal & Dust LUT
A muted teal-and-olive look with weathered neutrals, controlled highlights and natural warmth in skin.
Moody Teal & Dust is designed for footage that should feel grounded, textured and slightly weathered rather than bright, glossy or overly polished.
The look draws cooler cyan-teal tones into skies, shadows, denim and darker environmental colours. Greens move towards deep olive, while concrete, earth tones and warmer surfaces become softer and dustier. Whites settle into restrained cream and grey instead of remaining clinically bright.
Skin retains enough natural warmth to remain believable within the cooler palette. Rather than creating an exaggerated orange-and-teal split, the colours stay connected to the environment.
The result is controlled but clearly visible. In direct daylight, the look creates density, stronger colour separation and a darker urban structure. In overcast light, interiors and coastal environments, it becomes softer, quieter and more atmospheric.
What you will notice
- Cyan-teal separation through skies, shadows and darker blue surfaces
- Deep olive greens with reduced yellow brightness
- Dustier browns, concrete tones and weathered neutrals
- Cream and grey highlights instead of clean digital white
- Natural warm-neutral skin without an exaggerated orange cast
- Dense blacks and controlled contrast that remain adjustable in the grade
A look for real environments
Moody Teal & Dust works particularly well when the scene already contains surfaces the palette can respond to: concrete, brick, denim, foliage, wet streets, dark architecture, pale interiors and open skies.
It gives everyday footage a stronger visual identity without making every shot feel like a stylised effect. Urban reportage, portraits, travel footage and behind-the-scenes material remain observational and believable while sharing a consistent colour world.
