Kodak Gold 200 — Fuji Frontier FR01 Film Emulation Lightroom Preset

A scan-derived emulation of Kodak Gold 200 through the Fuji Frontier SP-3000, built around bright contrast, warm colour and vivid minilab separation.

The complete film-and-scanner look for Adobe Lightroom & ACR

The recognisable appearance of Kodak Gold 200 is shaped by more than the negative alone. Lab processing, scanner profiling and output contrast all influence how the stock is ultimately seen.

FR01 recreates one defined version of that complete pipeline: Kodak Gold 200, processed by HAFO and scanned on a Fuji Frontier SP-3000. The result is brighter, warmer and more immediately finished than a native negative emulation, with pronounced contrast, stronger saturation and the distinctive Frontier treatment of greens and blues.

Where Native Cineon leaves the film response open for further grading, FR01 includes the character of the finished minilab scan. It is designed for creators who want the familiar colour of consumer film photography without having to build a separate negative-to-display workflow.

What you will notice

  • Bright, high-contrast rendering with a more immediate finished appearance.
  • Pronounced saturation derived from the combined Gold 200 and Frontier response.
  • Warm reds and orange-based colour with energetic skin and environmental tones.
  • Distinctive separation in greens, cyans and blues.
  • A direct minilab character associated with consumer film scans and prints.
  • A stronger, more assertive result than the open Native Cineon version.

How it was developed

FR01 was developed from real Kodak Gold 200 film processed by HAFO and scanned on a Fuji Frontier SP-3000.

The purpose of this version is to preserve the combined character of the entire reference pipeline. It therefore includes the influence of the film stock, processing, scanner response and the contrast and colour decisions present in the selected scan.

This is a reference-led reproduction of one defined Frontier result. It is not intended to represent every possible Gold 200 scan. Exposure, processing, scanner settings and lab corrections can all change the appearance of real film.

Best suited for

  • Lifestyle, travel, fashion and documentary footage.
  • Images that benefit from warm colour, brighter contrast and stronger saturation.
  • Projects inspired by consumer photography and minilab prints from the 1990s and early 2000s.
  • Creators who want a more direct and finished film-scan aesthetic.

FAQ

How is FR01 different from Native Cineon?

Native Cineon isolates the underlying colour and tonal response of Kodak Gold 200 before scanner character is added. It is designed as an open grading stage.

FR01 reproduces a completed Kodak Gold 200 and Fuji Frontier SP-3000 pipeline. It includes the brighter contrast, stronger saturation and colour treatment of the selected minilab scan.

Is FR01 scanner-independent?

No. The Fuji Frontier SP-3000 response is a deliberate part of this emulation and one of the main reasons FR01 exists.

Is this an exact match for every Frontier scan?

It reproduces one defined reference pipeline. Real Frontier results can vary with film exposure, processing, scanner settings, operator corrections and lab preferences.

Which camera version should I choose?

Choose the option that exactly matches the log profile of your footage. The input profile is built into the transform and cannot be exchanged without affecting the result.

Does the preset include grain, halation or film softness?

No. A 3D LUT transforms colour and tone. Grain, halation, bloom and other spatial film effects need to be added separately.

Can I reduce the intensity?

Yes. You can mix the preset with the original image using the amount slider in Adobe Lightroom and ACR

Can I use FR01 with a print-film emulation?

FR01 is already designed as a finished film-and-scanner look. Adding another print-film emulation will create a more heavily processed result and is not required for the intended appearance.
