A muted, urban Lightroom preset collection inspired by overcast skies, worn denim, concrete and faded city colour.

Lightroom · Lightroom Classic · Camera Raw · 3 XMP presets · RAW recommended

MUTED COLOUR FOR RAW, EVERYDAY SCENES

Moody Teal & Dust is built around the subdued colour of contemporary independent cinema — cool urban shadows, weathered neutrals and skin tones that feel natural rather than polished.

Instead of covering photographs in an obvious teal wash, the presets work more quietly. Greens shift towards deep olive and cyan, browns become softer and dustier, and bright whites settle into restrained cream and grey. The result is cool without feeling sterile, and cinematic without turning every photograph into a dramatic effect.

The look works especially well with concrete, worn denim, dark architecture, cloudy coastlines, subdued interiors and unpolished everyday moments. Even brighter daylight takes on a slightly faded, lived-in character.

Designed for photographs that should feel textured, muted and real.

  • Cool teal and green-cyan shadows
  • Dust-toned, restrained midtones
  • Soft cream and grey highlights
  • Muted greens, blues and earthy colours
  • Natural-looking warmth in skin and lighter details
  • Three variations for balanced, warmer or more faded results

Best for: street photography, urban portraits, travel reportage, lifestyle photography, independent fashion stories, everyday documentary work and understated editorial photography.

FAQ

What kind of look does Moody Teal & Dust create?
Moody Teal & Dust creates a muted, atmospheric look with cool teal shadows, dusty neutral midtones and restrained highlights.

The overall result feels urban, weathered and quietly cinematic rather than bright, glossy or heavily stylised.

Does the preset add a strong teal colour cast?
No. The teal is concentrated mainly in the cooler shadows, darker greens and environmental tones. Highlights and skin retain more neutral or warmer information, helping the result feel balanced rather than covered by a uniform blue-green filter.

Is this a film emulation preset?
No. Moody Teal & Dust is an original cinematic colour look. It is not intended to reproduce a specific analogue film stock, laboratory process or print film.

What is the difference between Standard, Warm and Faded?
Standard delivers the balanced core look with teal shadows, dusty midtones and neutral contrast.

Warm introduces additional warmth through the midtones and highlights while retaining the cooler shadow structure.

Faded reduces contrast and saturation while lifting the darker tones for a softer, more nostalgic finish.

Which preset should I start with?
Start with Standard to establish the main Moody Teal & Dust colour direction.

Choose Warm when the original photograph feels too cold, when skin needs a little more warmth or when working with interior and late-day light.

Choose Faded when you want a softer image with lower contrast and a more subdued finish.

How does the preset affect skin tones?
The presets are designed to keep skin and other warmer subject colours present against the cooler surroundings.

Skin may become slightly more restrained and less saturated, but should not automatically become cyan or strongly teal.

The final result still depends on the camera profile, lighting, exposure and original white balance. Small temperature or tint adjustments may be required.

What kinds of photographs work best?
Moody Teal & Dust works especially well with:

Urban environments
Concrete and darker architecture
Worn denim and neutral clothing
Overcast daylight
Cloudy coastal locations
Window light
Subdued interiors
Street photography
Documentary portraits
Travel reportage
Independent fashion and editorial photography

It can also be used in brighter daylight, where it creates a more faded and restrained colour palette.

Does it work with RAW and JPEG photographs?
Yes. RAW files are recommended because they contain more information for adjusting exposure, white balance, highlights, shadows and colour.

JPEG and TIFF photographs are supported, but the result may be less flexible and more dependent on the colour already baked into the file.

What should I adjust after applying the preset?

Begin with exposure and white balance.

After that, check skin tones, shadow depth and overall saturation. Photographs made under mixed artificial light may need additional temperature and tint corrections.

The preset creates the colour direction, but every photograph still benefits from a small individual adjustment.

Can I reduce the strength of the preset?
Yes.

Use Lightroom’s preset Amount slider when available. You can also manually reduce contrast, saturation, colour grading or individual colour adjustments after applying the preset.

The presets are fully editable and do not lock the photograph into a fixed result.

Can I use the presets across a complete gallery?
Yes, especially when the photographs share similar lighting and exposure.

Apply the preset to one representative photograph, refine the exposure and white balance, and then synchronise those adjustments across the group.

For the most consistent result, treat daylight, interiors, flash and mixed-light photographs as separate groups.

Will my photographs look exactly like the product images?
Not exactly. The product images demonstrate the intended colour palette and atmosphere. The final result depends on the camera, lens, location, lighting, exposure, white balance and colours present in the original photograph.

The presets provide the same creative direction, but they do not replace the influence of the original image.

Does it work with Lightroom Mobile?
Yes.

The presets can be used in Lightroom Mobile after importing them into a compatible desktop version of Adobe Lightroom and synchronising them through your Adobe Creative Cloud account.

Mobile compatibility may depend on your Adobe subscription and current Lightroom workflow.

Is this the same as the Moody Teal & Dust LUT?
It follows the same visual direction, but it is rebuilt specifically for photography.

The Lightroom version uses editable photographic controls and is designed around RAW image processing. The LUT version is intended for video footage and colour-grading software.

The two products share the same overall palette, but they are not identical files or interchangeable formats.

Is this an instant digital download?
Yes. This is a digital product. No physical product will be shipped.
