A romantic palette with emotional tension

Pressed Flowers translates the heightened beauty associated with It Ends With Us into a distinctive authored Cinema Look. Soft peach skin, muted gold and warm natural surfaces sit against deeper organic greens and cooler environmental colour. Violet, red, pink and yellow remain expressive, allowing flowers, fabrics and production-design details to become part of the image without turning the entire palette overly saturated.

The look feels warm and inviting, but never weightless. Highlights retain a gentle softness while denser lower midtones introduce depth beneath the romantic surface. Cooler shadows and urban neutrals remain present, creating a subtle tension between intimacy and restraint.

Rather than reducing romance to pale pastels or a faded beige wash, Pressed Flowers preserves colour, texture and contrast. The result is tactile, emotionally charged and fundamentally photographic.

How it was designed

Pressed Flowers was developed by studying the recurring colour and tonal relationships associated with It Ends With Us, the film adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s novel starring Blake Lively. Lily’s warmer, creative world uses inviting natural colour and vivid floral accents, while more controlled or emotionally difficult environments introduce cooler colour, muted surfaces and greater tonal weight.

These relationships were translated into one repeatable colour design rather than an imitation of a single frame. Warmth remains concentrated in skin, light and organic materials, while cooler environmental colour and denser shadows prevent the image from becoming uniformly golden or sentimental.
